5 Abilities

Talents, Abilities, whatever you call that. Everyone has their own uniqueness regarding those things and can be considered as a genius. But the good news is, most of the talents or abilities we see can be learned for example, dancing, playing music, etc. Me as a human still trying to have new abilities (it is like RPG game isn’t it?) without further redo, these are 5 abilities I really want to have.

1.     Mind Reading & Body Language
Please differ mind reading and telepathy. Telepathy is the purported transmission of information from one person to another without using any of our known sensory channels or physical interaction. What I mean by mind reading is when I interact with someone; I could tell he or she is telling the truth or not. If I meet someone new, I could tell about his personality by the way he or she interacts with me.

This can be learned by knowing the way he or she speaks, the content of their message, the movement or their body, and many other things. The other good things about this, I can control the way I am talking and my body movement. I am still learning about this.

2.     ASL
ASL stands for American Sign Language (not Age Sex Language). I watched some videos about people talking with ASL which is cool. No other reason. Because it is cool.

But for now, it is not my top priority because i do not think this ability is what I need at this moment.

3.     Positive Thinking
The most beneficial and the most difficult thing for me to learn. I do complain a lot because most of the time, things do not go the way I want them to be. Maybe it is a bit selfish, but what if the things I wish will be good for everyone and the things that do not go the way I want is the selfish one?(read my last post about judgement).

The best way to achieve positive thinking is through meditating. For now, I can only meditate for around 5 minutes per day (it is really difficult to just sit and maintain the same position for a long time. while controlling your concentration and breathe of course). It is said that meditating impact will result after 2-3 months. I am still trying that.

4.     Lucid Dreaming
A lucid dream is a dream during which the dreamer is aware of dreaming. During lucid dreaming, the dreamer may be able to exert some degree of control over the dream characters, narrative, and environment.

How cool is that? If I could do this, I might never want to wake up again.

5.     Music Related Things
This is a bit mainstream. Playing music instruments like guitar or piano. Singing also count. But what I want to learn is not like this. I want to learn how to use FL Studio. In other words, I want to learn to compose music. It sounds like what allan walker did. It is the same actually, but with different goal. I want to make my own game with my own BGM. Well at least, that is what I want to do with FL Studio for now.

How Overthinker Thinks and How to Overcome It?

How overthinking people think? As one of them, I can share my perspective about this.

Overthinking is not as simple you might think. It is not just about making a plan with a backup plan and another plan, and another plan, and another… okay that is enough. It is related to fear and anxiety.

Overthinking also does not recognize what is so called as ‘Time’. I could regret things I did in the past. I could fear of what kind of future I might face later on.

In the end overthinking does not see things whether it is big or small. It could happen in any size.

Let us take an example to make it clear. Overthinkers sometimes hard to decide what to eat for lunch. It is not because they are picky but because they overthink about it. Does this food healthy enough? How much calories does it contain? Do I deserve this kind of meal? How much money I have spent on food this month including my next lunch? Last week I got diarrhea, is it okay for me to eat this? Does this food also exist on Antarctica (okay this is certainly a joke, but you get my point)?



That is just a simple example. But how can we overcome overthinking? The not ‘overthinker’ will say “Do not think and it will be alright!”

Well, technically it is true. But not all overthinking person is stupid enough not to realize that. Personally, I have tried it myself and did not quite work.

With that being said, i will try to explain one method that I used to calm myself when overthinking strikes. Makes everything you doubt into only YES or NO question and ignore everything that does not have a YES or NO as an answer. It is as simple as that.

Taking the lunch example once again. at first glance you will ask yourself What lunch should I have for today? Change it into, Is anything I eat for lunch, okay? If it is a yes, you are done. If it is a no, ask yourself again, using a YES or NO question. Do not ask yourself, what should I eat then? But ask it like, Can I eat steak today?

NEVER use who, what, where, when, why, how when you are in doubt. Remember, use this only when you think you overthink this a bit too much.

With only two option, YES or NO, you will limit yourself to only ‘overthink’ about that YES or NO. you cannot say other than that.
